Tomorrow we will be presenting to a group of professionals on the topic of Hosted Exchange and strategies of migration. We currently host over 300 Exchange mailboxes, and over 100 BlackBerry Enterprise Server devices. Though we still have a handful of clients that have on-premise Exchange, we truly believe that the future of e-mail is in the hosted space.

Among the topics we will be discussing are using cloud-based solutions to mitigate risk associated with using on-premise solutions. Though all systems have some level of risk, we believe the that infrastructure and security provided by a data center environment far outweighs any control that is given up in an on-premise environment.

As a part of the migration process, we will discuss different methods of exporting existing data from the Exchange database, and how to effectively migrate it to a new hosted environment. We will also lay out a suggested timeline for a weekend migration.

We just completed a project connecting two offices (one in Alexandria, VA and one in Newport Beach, CA) using SonicWall routers (A PRO 2040 in VA, and a TZ170 in CA) via a SSL VPN tunnel. This is a great way to provide access network resources in both offices to all employees. For example, both offices see the same file shares, the same servers, the same printers, and are on the same Windows domain. This cuts down on overall costs and enables their employees to be more effecient because they are not having to manage 2 seperate networks. Give us a call today if this is something that your office could benefit from!
